North Korea recently conducted tests on exploding drones designed to crash into targets, with leader Kim Jong Un urging the acceleration of mass production of these weapons, as reported by state media on Friday. The country's military demonstration coincided with joint military exercises involving the United States, South Korea, and Japan, showcasing their defense capabilities against North Korea.

The Korean Central News Agency released images of Kim inspecting various unmanned aerial vehicles, including drones with X-shaped tails and wings similar to those previously disclosed in August. The drones successfully flew different routes and accurately hit targets, including a BMW sedan and old tank models.

Kim expressed satisfaction with the development of these weapons and emphasized the importance of establishing a serial production system for mass production, highlighting the increasing significance of drones in modern warfare. He noted that drones are cost-effective and versatile for military operations.

While the report did not directly mention South Korea, it is apparent that North Korean drones are intended for targeting the rival nation. North Korea recently accused South Korea of deploying drones to drop anti-North Korean propaganda leaflets over Pyongyang, threatening retaliation if such actions continue.

Tensions escalate with South Korea and U.S. over military capabilities.

Tensions in the region have escalated due to North Korea's advancing nuclear and missile program, which includes nuclear-capable weapons aimed at South Korea and intercontinental ballistic missiles capable of reaching the U.S. mainland. Concerns have also arisen over North Korea's alleged support for Russia in the conflict with Ukraine, potentially leading to the exchange of military technology.

In addition to military threats, North Korea has engaged in psychological and electronic warfare against South Korea, such as releasing balloons to drop trash in the South and disrupting GPS signals near major airports. The situation will be a key topic at the trilateral summit involving South Korea, the U.S., and Japan during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation meetings in Peru.

Discussions between South Korean and U.S. officials at the APEC meetings highlighted concerns about the deepening ties between North Korea and Russia, particularly the deployment of North Korean troops to support Russia in the Ukraine conflict. The international community remains vigilant amid North Korea's provocative actions and strategic alliances.
