North East weather: Hour-by-hour forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday according to the Met Office

Hopes for a somewhat happier feel when it comes to the weather will be dashed as midweek sharp approaches.

The dark skies from the weekend have well and truly bled into the new week ahead, with further clouds expected as hump day comes around. Tuesday is looking particularly bleak, with rain expected to lash down from stormy clouds across the board and torrid temperatures accompanying.

Lows of 6C and highs of 11C are expected.

And while it's expected to stay dry on Wednesday - with the clouds lightening substantially - it's still looking 'grim up North', with white sheets blocking out any blue above the Tyne.

The official Met Office forecast for Tuesday, is: "Briefly fine at first, however soon becoming cloudy and windy as a band of occasionally heavy rain edges north-eastwards, probably seeing out the day. Temperatures nearer seasonal norms. Maximum temperature 12 °C."
