As a new week dawns North East residents will be hoping that the dark grey clouds hovering above the region will dissipate and be replaced by clearer conditions.
However, according to the Met Office, the overcast skies will carry well into the next week with Monday showing as cloudy throughout. Highs of 11C and lows of 9C are expected to accompany, although the day is looking to stay relatively dry with no major precipitation incoming.
Tuesday on the other hand looks far more bleak, with dark grey clouds covering the North East and a 90 to 95 per cent chance of rain to match. Highs of 11C and lows of 6C are anticipated.
The official Met Office forecast for Monday, is: "Mild again, but with extensive low cloud and areas of fog, perhaps very gradually lifting with brief brighter interludes later. Some light rain perhaps reaching western hills by the evening. Maximum temperature 15 °C."
