North East weather: Hour-by-hour forecast as Met Office predicts a mixed day of conditions

Sunday will be widely cloudy or overcast. There will be bright or sunny spells in the east of the region.

Rain or drizzle will affect mainly western and northwestern parts, persistent at times this morning. Some showers will develop in the afternoon. The maximum temperature will be 17 °C.
