Gateshead mum stabbed 29 times by partner shares shocking images of injuries as she opens up about fight for survival
A Gateshead mum who was stabbed 29 times and then locked in a cupboard by her partner has opened up about her courageous fight for survival to raise awareness of domestic violence.
In May 2021, Martina Turner was setting the table for breakfast at her home in Winlaton Mill when she was victim of a horrific attack by her partner at the time, Steven Wood.
The 54-year-old was stabbed 29 times with three different knives by Wood and then locked in a kitchen cupboard.

The mum of Manchester Arena bombing victim Liam Curry says she will "never forgive" all though who missed chances to save her son.
Liam, 19, was killed alongside his 17-year-old girlfriend Chloe Rutherford when suicide bomber Salman Abedi detonated his deadly device in the foyer of the venue after an Ariana Grade concert in May 2017.
The young couple, from South Shields, were among 22 people to lose their lives in the atrocity, which also killed Philip Tron, 32, and 19-year-old Courtney Boyle, both from Gateshead.
The 'real Northern powerhouse' – Newcastle Labour leader hails NUFC fans who took over London
Newcastle’s council leader has paid tribute to the “incredible and inspiring” NUFC fans who took over London last weekend.
Nick Kemp hailed the travelling Toon Army that descended on the capital for the Carabao Cup final as the “real Northern powerhouse”. Speaking at Wednesday night’s full council meeting, the Labour leader also reserved praise for the “awesome” Wor Flags display at Wembley on Sunday.
Congratulating Newcastle United on reaching the final, where they were beaten 2-0 by Manchester United, Coun Kemp said: “This weekend we saw the real Northern powerhouse. This Northern powerhouse claimed and then cleaned Trafalgar Square."
Pupil caught with bread knife at North Tyneside primary school is excluded
A primary school pupil has been excluded for bringing a bread knife into school.
Northumbria Police is investigating the incident, which happened at Hazelwood Primary School, in Wideopen, North Tyneside, last month.
Head teacher Stephane Bommel said the child was spotted with the knife by a teacher on the morning of February 14 when the class were preparing to leave for a school trip.
