North East set for rainy start according to Met Office forecast for Sunday November 20

The World Cup kicks off on Sunday and while temperatures will be pushing in 30 in Qatar, they won't even reach double figures in the North East.

We're set for a rainy start to the day, though by midday it should dry up and we'll have sunny intervals. Between 2pm and 3pm, it'll be sunny and dry before the sunsets just four minutes before the World Cup kicks off.

A clear night is expected to follow with little chance of rain. Monday should remain dry but cloudy until the evening, when there's a high chance of rain around 6pm.

The Met Office said: "Rain, locally heavy, will quickly clear east with broken cloud and showers following. The showers will be occasionally heavy, perhaps with hail, and most frequent across the Pennines. Maximum temperature 8 °C."
