The North East is in for unsettled weather this weekend, with high temperatures and sunshine mixed in with downpours and potential thunderstorms in a typically changeable British summer.
According to the latest forecast from the Met Office, the blazing sun we've grown accustomed to over the past week may still manage to get out as we head into Saturday and Sunday, but conditions will grow increasingly cloudy as the weekend progresses. Despite the shift, it's still expected to be very warm with temperatures predicted to hit highs of 22°C.
Saturday is set to be another fine day, although there will be more cloud than we've seen recently with hazy sunshine at times and a cooler breeze along the coast. It's Sunday that will likely see the biggest changes, with a yellow weather warning in place for thunderstorms across England and encompassing the North East.
