With the kids back at school and parents back to work after the relaxing holidays over Christmas and New Year, it’s hardly surprising that many will already be looking ahead to when their next holiday will be. It doesn't hurt to be prepared when you have to line up work holiday requests with school time off.
Newcastle City Council reminds parents that individual schools can set their own term dates - although they are encouraged to follow the same as the local authority. While Gateshead Council says that three days (one each term) are to be used for training days, which are to be determined by individual schools.
With local elections taking place in May 2023, one occasional day within the Summer Term 2023 is to be utilised for the purpose of closure for possible election purposes. This day is to be used near the end of the summer term and agreed upon by individual school governing bodies.

2023 bank holidays
Usually, teachers and pupils join the county in enjoying a bank holiday day off. Bank holidays tend to fall within existing school holiday dates, however, as term dates vary it is important to check with your school first.
