Residents of Newcastle upon Tyne have had their say on a newly proposed skyscraper, which will be the tallest building in the Toon when complete at 37 storeys high.
Stunning images were yesterday (Wednesday) released showing how the £50m structure would look as part of developers’ city centre plans.
The Gainford Group, which owns a number of bars, hotels and restaurants across the city including Aveika, The Vermont and Livello snapped up the previously standing hotel three years ago, and began plotting a massive transformation of the site.

Once complete, the 50m investment will stand higher than Newcastle’s current tallest building, the 26-storey Hadrian’s Tower by eleven storeys.
And while the new building is expected to bring some 500 jobs to the local area, many residents of the city and its surrounding areas have expressed their qualms with the new structure, complaining on social media that it will 'stick out like a sore thumb'.
Tracey Milne wrote: "Let's hope Newcastle doesn't end up a total eyesore like Manchester," while Yvonne Robinson added: "What is the obsession with building tower blocks again? The ones built in the 60s & 70s were demolished for a reason."
Andrew Wright commented: "Will it leak like a sieve, have structural problems and will the builder dissolve into the night owing £millions like Hadrian Tower?" and Dave Brown said: "It'll totally ruin the skyline."
Liam Cachia joked: "Oh dear, the natives won’t like that, it’s bigger than 2 feet!" while Raymond Denholm added: "Just another building that’ll stand empty."
Graham Testo also wrote: "Stick out like a sore thumb," with Ron Baston commenting: "This is awful."
However, some other locals rate the brand-new proposition. Dan Entwistle wrote: "Going against the grain here, but I rather like that," with 29 people liking his Facebook comment in agreement, while Ross JF added: "I like it! Just what Newcastle needs!"
John Hawdon commented: "It’s good to see that the eastern gateway into the city centre getting redeveloped," and Jimmy Mcdermott said: "Anything is better than the eyesore that’s there at the moment. I’m not really a big fan of sky scrapers but if this actually turns out like the picture it’s quite good."
