South Shields Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards has announced her engagement to footballer Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
The singer, who has a son Axel with the Liverpool player, posted pictures of the proposal on her Instagram account. She said: “Last night the love of my life got down on one knee and I said… YES!”.
The couple have been dating since 2016 after Perrie split from former boyfriend and fellow pop star Zayn Malik, who was a member of One Direction at the time. She gave birth to their son Axel last August.

Fellow stars, including former bandmate Jade Thirlwall, have congratulated Perrie on her engagement. Felow North Easterner Vicky Pattison wrote: “Omgggggggggg!!!!! Congratulations gorgeous girl.”
The future Mrs Oxlade-Chamberlain’s happy news comes as speculation begins surrounding when the Little Mix ladies will release solo material, following their farewell tour coming to an end last month. Perrie recently told The Sun : “We’ve all said we will let each other know when we’re going to release so we don’t end up clashing in the charts. We’re rooting for each other, not competing against each other.”
