The cold weather from the weekend is set to continue into Monday, with the North East expected to wake up to a blanket of mist.
Snow was abundant on higher ground on Sunday, while households closer to the city centre and the coast woke up to a blanket of glistening frost on Sunday morning. And with a cold but bright day predicted on Monday, anyone leaving the house will need to wrap up more as temperatures aren't expected to surpass 1°C.
While Tuesday will remain cold but bright, a yellow weather warning for up to 20cm of snow and ice has been issued for the North East by Met Office forecasters, with travel disruption expected. The warning is in place until Thursday.

The Met Office said: "A cold, bright day for most, though any early freezing fog patches could be slow to clear. Generally dry but isolated wintry showers remain possible along the coast. Maximum temperature 1 °C."
