A growing North East engineering specialist has demonstrated its commitment to the Yorkshire region after expanding its Leeds operations.
TGA Consulting Engineers (TGA) provides consulting engineering services with a particular focus on carbon reduction technologies from its head office in Durham and offices in Newcastle, London, Stevenage and Leeds. Now the firm, which launched 60 years ago, has announced plans to double the size of its headcount in Leeds over the next five years after moving to a bigger base in Albion Street, in the city centre.
TGA, which now has 46 staff, has put an ambitious business development strategy in place, making two new appointments as a platform for future development of the team, enlisting Martin McKay as an associate and Ross Nicholson, a mechanical engineer.

Russell Entwistle, technical director and head of the Leeds office, welcomed the two new members of the team, who will continue work on several projects in the Yorkshire area including the Hull Maritime Museum project which includes the refurbishment of the Grade 2 listed building and a new build Passivhaus-standard facility.
Mr Entwistle, a chartered engineer with over 19 years of experience in consultancy engineering, said: “I am delighted to welcome Martin and Ross to the Leeds office team and feel confident they will play an important role in helping to drive forward our business expansion plans as key members of the team. It’s an exciting time to be pushing forward in this vibrant city and with so much to offer the market.
“TGA is passionate about driving down the energy and carbon production of buildings, incorporating sustainable and low carbon technologies and can provide wide ranging technical and consultancy support to projects both large and small, working with tier one contractors and developers, so we have much to offer the Yorkshire market. The use of energy in new and existing buildings is of the utmost importance as part of the climate emergency.
“As a consultancy, we are particularly well versed in the higher education and healthcare sectors and are keen to acquire projects in these areas of specialisation to bolster our offering in Durham, Newcastle and the wider North East of England.
“Over the next five years we are ambitious to double the size of our headcount in Leeds and become a recognised employer of local people with local knowledge, especially those who are excited at the prospect of working for a dynamic company that is involved in projects at the leading edge of carbon reduction technologies.
“In the meantime, we are becoming increasingly well-known in the Leeds area, and I am pleased to report that there is quite a lot of activity in the pipeline.”
