Scotland's answer to Route 66 has been picked out as the 'most Instagrammable route' in the UK.
The always photogenic NC500 has beaten out the likes of Northern Ireland’s Causeway Coastal Route and Wales’s Elan Valley to be named top for fans of travel photography.
With people across the UK rediscovering the beauty of their own country over the past two years after the pandemic took away foreign holidays from us, interest in staycations for 2022 has continued to soar.
Vehicle finance specialists Anglo Scottish Asset Finance (ASAF) have compiled a list of some of the best – and most Instagrammable – driving locations in the UK.
Researching picturesque driving locations to find the most photogenic driving locations in the country, they analysed Instagram hashtags and search engine data from SEMrush and Google Trends to find which location is the most sought-after.
And Scotland's most famous road trip has come out on top.
The 516-mile route around the northern-most coast of Scotland takes in undisturbed landscapes, white sandy beaches and rolling highlands to make it a perfectly-Instagrammable drive, and one with plenty of varied photo ops.
The ASAF team found the NC500 is one of the most popular drives in the world by Instagram hashtag volume, and has been the subject of over 122,000 related Google searches over the last 12 months.
