A POPULAR tourist activity in Scotland has been named the most scenic driving route in the UK.
The North Coast 500 was named as the favourite in a survey by Europcar, which looked at routes across all four nations of the UK.
It comes as schools across the UK have now all broken up for the summer holidays – with Scottish schools set to go back next month – meaning many families will now be looking for things to do without travelling abroad.
The popular route both starts and ends in Inverness and is the perfect trip for anyone looking to take in the scenery of the country’s far north.
Responding to the news, NC500 chair David Hughes said: “We are absolutely delighted that the North Coast 500 has been recognised as the drivers' top scenic route in the Europcar survey.
