On Sunday, the North Carolina State men’s basketball team defeated their in-state rival North Carolina, 77-69. It followed the NC State women’s team also topping North Carolina, 77-66, last Thursday.
As you could imagine, the pettiness between these two schools brewed anew. There has been documented frustration between the programs after North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye threw shade at people who went to NC State. The rivalry has bubbled up from time to time since then, with the teams engaging in a battle of petty sunglasses during interviews for some reason.

If pettiness is currency, then this rivalry will never feel the effects of a pettiness recession.
While North Carolina clearly has the more storied history in basketball, NC State gets to claim bragging rights until the two programs inevitably meet again. Goodness knows this rivalry won’t calm down anytime soon.
