Storm Malik arrived in the North East in the early hours of Saturday, bringing high winds which mercilessly battered the region.
In scenes similar to November's Storm Arwen, which also caused widespread damage, roads were disrupted and power cut off.
Winds present around the North East yesterday also followed suit, causing major disruptions to traffic and transport, damages to people's personal property, and regional power surges leaving homes without essential heating and electricity.

And while some businesses were forced to close their doors for the remainder of the day due to dangerous wind speeds of up to 147 MPH, other traders decided to brave the weather and stay open to the general public, despite disruption.
One local business which decided to keep running was the beloved Gateshead pub, the Schooner.
Situated on South Shore Road, the pub had its own struggles with the brash weather after a huge tree fell into the beer garden.
However, determined not to let the weather win, the pub decided to continue as normal - with the exception of the garden being out of use due to the blockage.
With many in the local area questioning whether their favourite pub would be open for business due to the disruption, staff decided to give locals a little clarity with a social media update.
Taking to their official Facebook page, staff at the Schooner announced the felled tree in a post, writing: "So a huge tree has fallen on the stage area, it’s a wreck but we are still open for business and there is plenty of fire wood if anyone wants any.
"It’s wild out there so stay safe."
Locals in the area took no time to make the best out of a bad situation, commenting on positives the pub can take from the incident.
One user wrote: "Cut it up and let it dry out. Then put it on your pub fire," while another added: "Bring ya own chainsaw!"
Another took the opportunity to make light of the happening, writing: "When you eventually clear it can you check under the stage for my plectrum? I dropped it about 3 years ago and still haven't got over it."
The pub continued to be open for business on Sunday, despite the blockage barricading off the beer garden - completing a normally hectic Sunday lunch service for hungry customers.
