Normal People took TV by storm, quickly becoming one of lockdown's most memorable events.
And while the drama took viewers' breath away, the rising stars have garnered even more attention.
Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones transfixed the nation as Connell and Marianne, stormy romantics whose sex scenes became especially drawn out.
And despite the raunchy nature of the show, Paul admits it was mostly either awkward or funny on set.
"On the Friday of the first week, me and Daisy had to do a day of sex scenes and we were covered in this gel called Egyptian Magic," he explained.
"It's basically fake sweat. We had to switch positions and our bodies were in close contact.
"When we separated it made a really loud fart noise. Me and Daisy started hysterically laughing, but the crew and director (Lenny Abrahamson) all thought that one of us had farted and really were trying to preserve our dignity."
He added that filming those scenes felt anything but sexy.
"Filming those scenes is probably the least sexy thing you'll ever do in your life," Paul recalled, "so it is amazing that they turned out so brilliantly, because at the time, they are quite unsexy."
Paul recently dished that it's "unlikely" there will be another series of Normal People, but hinted he'd return if Connell and Daisy's Marianne were revisited further down the line.
"I'd probably wait for Marianne and Connell to enter another phase in their life," he said, "get a bit older and figure out what they mean to each other."
Meanwhile, Paul told Mirror Online that his meteoric rise, followed by lusted-after hunk status, has been difficult to process.
"It's very strange to hear all of these things," he admitted, "very strange but very humbling and I couldn't be anymore grateful."
He also addressed rumours that he could be in the running to wear the tux as the next 007.
The upcoming No Time To Die will mark Daniel Craig's final outing, leaving fans scratching their heads over who will fill his shoes.
Paul is one of the names fans have put forward.
"I've heard the James Bond predictions," he laughed, "and all I can say is that it would be a dream come true.
"If I was James Bond...well, I'd be rich!"
