A beloved dog who became a viral sensation for predicting the vibe of the day for millions of followers has died at 14 years old.
Noodle the pug shot to TikTok stardom with his daily “bones or no bones” videos, bringing cheers during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Owner Jonathan Graziano would put the dog onto a bed, and if he remained standing, it was a “bones day” - a day when things are going to go your way - a time to do all the things you were afraid to try.
Meanwhile a “no bones day” is a day when you’re just not feeling it, or as Jonathan explained, “permission to wear soft clothes, self-care, take a bath”.
Noodle, who was adopted when he was seven years old, started picking up a following in 2021, whose near-daily videos made lockdown that little bit more bearable for fans.
Announcing the news of Noodle’s passing on social media on Saturday, a tearful Jonathan said: “I’m so sorry to have to share this, but Noodle passed yesterday.
“He was at home, he was in my arms…It’s a day that I always knew was coming but never thought would arrive.”
He added: “Although this is very sad, I wanted to let you know, and I wanted to encourage you to celebrate him.
“He lived 14 and a half years, which is about as long as you can hope a dog can. And he made millions of people happy. What a run.”
There was an outpouring of support on Twitter, with one follower posting: “I knew that following a 14 year old Pug on Tiktok that this day would come all too soon…but I don’t regret a single moment of following him.
“His life gave us so much joy. Even on the no bones days. Rest in peace Noodle. Sleep well prince!”
Another added: “We are all allowed one no bones day and then we can only have bones days in his honor. It will now and forever be a bones day,” another said.
In a tribute message, Instagram-famous corgi duo Hamilton and Olivia wrote: “Today, let’s celebrate noodle, the lives he changed, the motivation he brought to millions and the joy we all got from Jon sharing him with the world.”
Fellow celebrity dog, Doug the Pug, posted: “RIP Noodle The Pug. A great friend and a pug who spread joy to millions. May it forever be a bones day.”
Jonathan, who lives in New York City, said the popularity of his and Noodle’s videos had been “overwhelming” and “incredible”.
He told Today: "I get mentions from people who say it was a 'bones' day, so they decided to propose to their partner [or] they put a downpayment on their house.
“A woman said the other day that it was a 'bones' day so she bought a lotto ticket and won half a million dollars."
