Nonprofit Seeks Criminal Charges Against Trump And Vance In Springfield

Donald Trump to testify in New York civil fraud trial

The leader of nonprofit Haitian Bridge Alliance is seeking criminal charges against Donald Trump and JD Vance over the chaos that engulfed the city of Springfield. The charges include disrupting public services, telecommunications harassment, and aggravated menacing, stemming from false claims made by the duo that Haitian immigrants are stealing and eating local pets.

According to an affidavit filed in the Clark County Municipal Court, more than 30 threats of violence were sparked by these claims in the days following the second presidential debate. The nonprofit is asking the court to affirm probable cause and issue arrest warrants for both men.

The Chandra Law Firm, representing the nonprofit, highlighted that Ohio law allows private citizens to file affidavits charging offenses, which are then reviewed by local prosecutors to determine if charges should be brought forward.

The lead counsel for the nonprofit emphasized that the Haitian community is living in fear due to the false alarms raised by Trump and Vance, leading to disruptions in public services. The counsel stressed the importance of holding the individuals accountable to the rule of law.

As of now, a hearing on the affidavit's request has not been scheduled, according to the court clerk. In response to the charges, the Trump campaign defended the former president's stance on immigration, attributing the chaos to the failures of the current immigration system overseen by Vice President Kamala Harris.
