'None of us can imagine' - Frank Lampard makes Vitalii Mykolenko admission after stunning Everton goal

Frank Lampard said he was "delighted" for Vitalii Mykolenko after the defender's wonder-strike helped Everton to their first away win since August.

The Ukraine star volleyed in from 20 yards early in the first half at Leicester City, sending the sold-out away end into raptures. It was the 22-year-old's first goal for Everton since joining in January and followed a series of impressive performances.

Describing the strike, Lampard said: "It was an amazing goal. We have been waiting for one of those, something out of nothing, and it was a real stunner."

Brendan Rodgers also praised the goal as a "good finish" in his post-match interview.

Mykolenko has grown in stature in recent weeks, producing a stand-out performance in the 1-0 win over Chelsea. His displays have come against the backdrop of the invasion of the Ukraine star's homeland.

Referencing that as he highlighted Mykolenko's growing importance to his side, Lampard said: "None of us can imagine how his head is with that. He's been brilliant. He's playing really well, he's developing all the time. I'm delighted for him to get that goal."

Leicester levelled minutes later through Patson Daka, but Mason Holgate's header in the aftermath of a corner restored Everton's lead after 30 minutes.

The Blues were then able to hold on to a vital three points that lifted them out of the relegation zone - partly thanks to three big saves from Jordan Pickford.
