Militants kill labourer from Bihar in Kashmir’s Bandipora

Militants shot dead a non-local labourer in north Kashmir’s Bandipora, the Jammu and Kashmir police said on Friday. In a separate incident, a policeman was shot at and injured in Anantnag.

“During the intervening night [August 11-12], terrorists fired upon and injured one outside labourer Mohammad Amrez, a resident of Madhepura Besarh, Bihar, at Soadnara Sumbal, Bandipora,” the police said. Amrez was shifted to a hospital “where he succumbed to his injuries”.

The incident took place around 1.00 a.m. He was shot from a close range. The victim was staying in the house of a local.

Appeal to L-G

Meanwhile, migrant labourers have appealed to the Lieutenant Governor (L-G) to help in shifting the body of the victim to the native place in Bihar.

On August 4, one non-local labourer was killed and two others injured in a grenade blast in the Gadoora area of Pulwama district.

In a separate incident, militants shot and injured a policeman in Anantnag’s Bijbehara town. “Terrorists fired upon a joint naka party of police and the CRPF in the Bijbehara area of Anantnag. In this incident, one police personnel got injured who was shifted to hospital,” the police said.

The injured was identified as Special Police Officer Ghulam Qadir. Kashmir saw around 14 targeted killings this year so far, which included Hindu civilians and labourers.
