If you love Katsu, look no further than Nomi Katsu in Leeds which honours the dish in its entire menu.
The takeaway, based out of a unit near Scott Hall, serves Katsu in every variety you can imagine, from your classic chicken Katsu curry to prawn Katsu teriyaki. Nightmare if you don't like Katsu.
Luckily, I do. So I ordered from Nomi Katsu one day to see how its dishes measured up.

I stuck to the classics, and ordered a chicken katsu curry meal, which comes with the usual rice, breaded chicken, Katsu sauce and Japanese salad. It also came with a choice of side - I chose Togarashi spiced fries.
I also chose one of the few items on the menu that wasn't Katsu to see how that was - the duck gyozas. The order arrived straight at my door in just over half an hour from when I placed it and was still nice and hot, though factor in your delivery and service fees after you've ordered if you're going through Deliveroo here.
The katsu sauce comes in a separate pot, and there's a good decent helping of it to pour as you like over the chicken and rice (I suggest all of it). The gyozas came with a dipping pot of soy sauce.
The katsu curry was exactly as it should be: sticky rice, flavourful, sweet, curry sauce. The Japanese salad was a particular hit, that had a nice zingy kick to contrast the sauce.
It's a generous portion too - perhaps slightly expensive, but a very good katsu curry. If you're going to make it your brand, I suppose you probably make sure you get it right.
Next to the katsu curry, the fries and the gyozas felt like more of an afterthought. They were perfectly nice, but after having the katsu, I wasn't as interested in them. The fires were good, but I didn't get much from the Togarashi spice.
And this is a takeaway dedicated to Katsu - why shouldn't it be that way? So, by all means, get the sides, but come here for a Katsu - that's what will make it worth it.
The bill
- Chicken Katsu Curry meal including Togarashi spiced fries - £14.95
- Five duck gyozas - £6.95
Total including delivery and service fees - £25.09
