Nohan Kenneh opens up on Leeds United exit and Marcelo Bielsa after Hibernian move

Leeds United academy graduate Nohan Kenneh has officially agreed to join SPL side Hibernian with his deal with Leeds expiring this summer. Kenneh signed a pre-contract agreement to join Hibs after a lack of playing time with the Premier League side.

The 19-year-old has penned a three-year deal at Easter Road and is likely to receive a greater amount of first-team opportunities. Kenneh featured several times on the bench for Leeds this season but was never handed his senior debut despite receiving a yellow card in the win at Wolves in March following the wild celebrations after the injury-time winner.

But Kenneh had no bad words for his boyhood club, and has thanked former manager Marcelo Bielsa.

Kenneh said: "He (Bielsa) improved me a lot. For me, his style of play is different, more man for man and more intense. It’s very intense, we did a lot of running - so, I’ll be ready for pre-season, there’s no doubt about that! But his style of play improved me as a player, it was very good for me."

Kenneh was a likeable figure around the first-team, with Pascal Struijk and Kalvin Phillips sending him messages after confirming his exit, posting love heart emoji's to him on Instagram.

The Liberian defender now hopes to use his experience gained whilst playing for Leeds' youth sides in the SPL.

He said: "It was an amazing experience, playing against men and seeing how good I was in men’s football, because that’s where I want to be. That’s the main aim for any player, challenging yourself and going up against teams that have got better quality. Going into the games, I feel like I got more confidence as I went on and I feel like I did well, which was good.

"I’ve been around Leeds first-team for a while and I feel like this is the right step for me. It’s massive but I feel like it’s the right step for me and my family. The biggest thing for me now is just to kick on and work hard."

On his exit, he wrote on Twitter: “Still can’t believe am writing this…but after nearly 8 years at @leedsunited, my time here has come to an end. I have had so many great experiences that will with live me forever.”
