Noel Gallagher teams up with Emeli Sande for special performance in hometown Manchester

Noel Gallagher is set to perform in his beloved Manchester next month for a very special cause.

The rock legend will perform a headline set in his hometown at the end of September to help young people affected by poverty through charitable initiative Football for Change.

Noel and his band, High Flying Birds, will be joined by fellow performers Emeli Sandé and Melanie C at the charitable at the event on 22nd September, as a star-studded line-up aim to raise thousands at the annual fundraising gala.

This Morning presenter Vernon Kay will be acting as the celebrity host on the night, while Sky Sports presenter Jamie Carragher will be involved in a high profile Q&A with another sporting superstar on stage.

There will also be a major auction aiming to build on the £350,000 already raised by Football for Change, with exclusive prizes donated by Robbie Williams, Sir Rod Stewart, Manchester United, Manchester City and Formula 1.

Oasis star Noel - who was recently serenaded by fellow holiday goers - has been described as a "musical icon" by Liverpool FC legend Jamie, who launched Football For Change last year.

England stars Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and Conor Coady also launched the initiative alongside the footballer-turned-pundit, in addition to PR firm ThisGeneration.

"It is amazing to have Noel and his band supporting Football For Change by playing at our annual fundraising gala next month. He is a music icon and we’re all looking forward to it," Jamie told the Mirror regarding the upcoming event.

"This event follows our launch in 2021 which was attended by our patron Sir Rod Stewart. It is going to be a great night."

Football for Change aims to lift young people from disadvantaged backgrounds out of poverty with life-changing opportunities in education and employment.

The inaugural Football for Change gala hosted in Liverpool last year raised £250,000, before a lunch event secured another £100,000 in March, with performances from Sir Rod Stewart and BRIT-nominated Tom Grennan.

Earlier this year, performer Emeli spoke of her excitement at being involved with the groundbreaking organisation - saying she was "honoured" to play a part of Football For Change's latest fundraising event, sponsored by Swinton Insurance.

During one of their gala dinners in Liverpool last year, Sir Rod surprised guests at the Titanic Hotel with impromptu performance on stage - before going on to help raise £250,000 in vital funds for the good cause.

"Football For Change is an incredible initiative and so when I was asked to be part of this special event I immediately said yes," singer Emeli has stated ahead of the organisation's latest star-studded gala.

"I am looking forward to performing and giving my support to the football players involved including Trent Alexander Arnold and Jamie Carragher. It is a really worthwhile cause and I am proud to be involved."
