Noel Gallagher says creepy Harvey Weinstein stared at Edinburgh wife Sara

Noel Gallagher has revealed how convicted sex pervert and former movie mogul Harvey Weinstein spent hours staring at his wife in a Paris restaurant.

The ex-Oasis rocker, 54, said he and his wife, Edinburgh-born Sara MacDonald, clocked the shamed film producer several years ago while sitting down for lunch at the trendy L'Avenue in the French capital.

Noel said Weinstein was sat a table with several other men, and had his eyes trained on Sara, 50, for much of the meal.

Recalling the disturbing incident on his friend Matt Morgan's podcast, Noel said: : "We happened to go for lunch. Harvey Weinstein happened to be sat at quite a big table with loads of similar looking men.

"He stared at her [Sara] throughout this meal."

The incident having taken place years before Weinstein's crimes came to light in 2017, Noel said he assumed that the producer perhaps had plans to cast Sara in a film - and only later thought it sinister.

Noel also told Matt Morgan of a recent dream he had of being in a bar with Weinstein – now serving 23 years in jail – and late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

He said he thought: "Oh no, I've got to wake up, this is too weird."

Noel's interview on the podcast comes ahead of a busy year for the musician, who is expected to release new music in the coming months and will be on tour over the summer.

His band - Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds - is set to tour the UK in June, visiting locations such as Newcastle, Colwyn Bay, Cornwall and London. Their only Scottish date will be in Dundee for the Summer Sessions in Slessor Gardens on June 11.

Tickets went on sale last year with the tour kicking off in Margam, near Port Talbot, on June 4.

The band last appeared in Edinburgh in May 2019, performing to a sold out crowd at the Playhouse with Supergrass frontman Gaz Coombes as support.

During the concert, Noel revealed to the crowd that his mother-in-law was in the crowd and that it was her birthday.

Publicist Sara MacDonald was brought up in the Murrayfield area of the city and attended Mary Erskine's school.

She met Noel while on holiday in Ibiza back in 2000, during the Oasis legend's split from first wife Meg Matthews.

The pair have two sons, Donovan, born in 2007, and Sonny, born in 2010.

Noel and Sara exchanged vows in 2011, with comic and actor Russell Brand as best man.
