Noel Gallagher reveals reaction to son bringing home Cristiano Ronaldo poster

Noel Gallagher has joked he had to educate his young son on who Cristiano Ronaldo plays for after being gifted a poster of the Manchester United superstar.

Having previously represented both Real Madrid and Juventus before his return to the Premier League last summer, Gallagher said his son had no idea Ronaldo was idolised in the red half of Manchester. The former Oasis frontman and Manchester City fan said he was quick to let his son know.

"The young lad, Sonny, plays for his local team and went for trials for the county,” Gallagher said. “He's enthusiastic, has a good shot and great positional play. I'd rather him be a footballer, they get paid more than musicians.

"But it was a funny day when he started really identifying with players. He didn't realise Ronaldo had played with United and he came home with a Ronaldo poster. I was like, 'Mate, what are you doing?' He was like, 'I love Ronaldo, he's my favourite player.' But I told him, 'You can't have it in this house, mate' and I had to show him a picture of him in a United kit because he had only ever known him as playing for Real Madrid and Juventus."

It is however City who have the bragging rights ever since Ronaldo's return to the Old Trafford, winning the Premier League title last season and enjoying a recent 6-3 drubbing of United at the Etihad just last month.

Gallagher, who sat down with Pub Talk hosts Ray Parlour and Alan Brazil in a feature-length interview, discussed a whole range of topics, as well as discussing the ongoing whispers of a potential Oasis reunion later on down the line. The full video can be viewed here.
