Noel Gallagher launched into a foul-mouthed rant in which he misgendered Sam Smith and called them a "f***ing idiot".
The Oasis frontman, 55, referred to the non-binary singer as "him" as he spoke about the "current state of pop music" on Dutch radio station Kink.
He said: "Music has become quite fractured and chart music is dominated by pop. Pop music is alright if the pop stars are cool. Sadly the stars of today are f***ing idiots."
When probed on who he was referring to that was "uncool", Noel replied: "Sam Smith."
Quizzed on why he had said the 30-year-old - who uses they/them pronouns - Noel replied: "Look at him!"
It comes amid a tough time for Sam and just weeks after they were cruelly branded "demonic" and "evil" by a stranger while walking in Central Park.
Sam had recently come under scrutiny for their performances at the Grammys and Brit Awards, both of which had received complaints to the US and UK regulatory watchdogs.
The video showed a woman screaming at Sam, who was minding their own business as they made their way through the park.
"Sam Smith belongs in hell, you demonic, twisted, sick b****d," she was heard shouting.
She could then be heard screaming: "You sick motherf****r Sam Smith, you’re evil."
Another person was heard joining in, shouting about the Illuminati, before the video cut off.
Sam didn't respond to the heckles and walked off.
The singer's performance to Unholy with Kim Petras at the Grammys sparked multiple complaints to the FCC earlier this month over its devil theme.
TMZ reported at the time that the watchdog received 18 complaints filed with the Federal Communications Commission following the event.
Some complaints compared the performance to devil worship, with one person saying they were going to cancel their TV service.
Some said it was anti-Christian and suggested had the potential to "increase violence against Christians".
One complaint said: "It was wrought with evil imagery, and depicted DEVIL WORSHIPING ACOLYTES writhing around on the floor virtually naked, and in CAGES. It was broadcast on live television, and I cannot believe that CBS allowed it."
Just last month, Sam also divided fans with their raunchy music video for I'm Not Here To Make Friends.
The video, set in a castle, sees Sam stepping out of a golden heliciopter in a huge pink ruffled dress. Later, they're filmed dancing in a corset and suspenders with nipple covers
While some moaned that it was "hypersexualised", others argued that the Gloria hitmaker is simply being authentic and finally fully embracing their sexuality.
