Noel Gallagher at Delamere Forest times, support, set list and parking

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds are set to play Delamere Forest in Cheshire this week, having stunned a Cannock audience in Staffordshire on Sunday. The former Oasis rocker will play the open air gig as part of the Forest Live 2022 series this Thursday, June 16.

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds’ 11-piece band will be performing tracks from the full Gallagher songbook that now spans four decades, with HFB’s debut album going double platinum in the UK and selling over 2.5 million copies worldwide.

Noel has been centre stage of the British music scene since the mid-nineties Britpop explosion. As a founding member and the principal songwriter of Oasis, Noel has sold over 70 million records, including the band’s generation-defining albums ‘Definitely Maybe’ and ‘(What’s The Story) Morning Glory?’.

Forest Live is a major outdoor live music series that introduces forests to new audiences in unique, natural woodland arenas around the country. Over 1.9 million people have attended a Forest Live gig in the last twenty years, enjoying great music and supporting the nation’s forests when buying a ticket.

Going to a concert helps Forestry England create beautiful places for people to enjoy, run important conservation projects and keep growing trees. Every year they plant some 8 million trees sustainably, caring for the nation’s 1,500 woods and forests and welcoming 296 million visits annually.

Here’s what fans can expect from the show, including support, setlists, stage times, travel and parking:

Who is supporting?

Confidence Man playing Cannock Chase for ForestLive (Bethan Shufflebotham)

For Thursday’s show, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds will be supported by a 30 minute set from Confidence Man. The Australian indie electro pop band reportedly met Noel Gallagher while partying in Melbourne, and will stun fans with their upbeat music from their debut album, Confident Music for Confident People, and their latest album Tilt.

Fans can expect a high energy set with lots of costume changes and choreographed dance routines. The quartet is made up of front duo Planet and Bones (not their real names, of course), as well as Goodchild and McGuffie on keys and drums, faces disguised with veiled hats to add even more mystery to this unusual act.

Stage times

Stage times are always subject to change, but Forestry England typically open their gates from 6pm to allow ticket holders into the arena.

Of our experience seeing the show at Cannock Chase on Sunday, June 12, we found that Confidence Man arrived on stage at 8pm for a half hour set, with Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds on from 9pm to approximately 10.30pm.

How to get there

Delamere Forest is a large wood in Delamere, Cheshire, covering an area of 972 hectares making it the largest area of woodland in the county.

From Manchester, Delamere Forest is a 54 minute drive via the M62, or two hours on the train via Frodsham. The nearest train station is Delamere - Manchester to Chester line - and is a 10 minute walk from the arena.

For those driving, the postcode is CW8 2HZ with sufficient car parking for visitors provided on site. Car parks open from 4pm.

There will only be pre-booked taxis on site with a drop off and pick up point located in Whitefield car park off the B5152. To avoid the main traffic, Forestry England advise accessing the drop off/pick up point from the direction of Hatchmere, and will be sign posted.

The drop off and pick up point is approx 20 minute walk from the concert arena along a dedicated lit forest track.

Food and drink prices

A fully licensed bar and a variety of food and drink outlets will be available at the venue, with most accepting cash or card. At Cannock Chase, there were options such as loaded Mac and Cheese (£10), hand stretched pizzas (£11), cheeseburgers (£7.50), chips (£4) as well as balti loaded chips (£11), waffles (£6) and an ice cream van. While the exact save vendors may not be at Delamere Forest, it’s a good indication of the kind of variety on offer, with approximate pricing.

In terms of drinks, a pint will set you back around £5, with a pint of Pimm’s and lemonade costing £12.

Gig goers are permitted to bring a picnic with them, as well as up to 1 litre of diluted alcohol or beer per person.
