Noel Fielding has returned to screens for the first time since his battle with a mystery illness last December, following his comments about a fellow Bake Off presenter earlier this week.
The TV presenter has appeared in a new music video for his friend Luke Spiller, former frontman of The Struts, which was released on Friday.
In the video, Fielding steps into the shot wearing his trademark garb — a big, black fluffy coat, spray-on skinny jeans, pointed boots and sunglasses — before sitting down and hitting play on the track, then staying almost completely still as various lights and streamers fill the room around him.
The 52-year-old TV presenter appears to be consciously returning to the limelight this week with a series of cameos and surprise appearances, courtesy of his friends in the music industry.
Fielding also appeared at a Kasabian gig in Shepherd’s Bush this Tuesday, where he took to the stage and joked with the crowd. This included a gag about his presenting gig on The Great British Bake Off, where Fielding referenced his co-host, Prue Leith.
“It’s all kicking off backstage, me and Prue just did Jägerbombs, Prue Leith”, he said to the crowd.
This comes a month after Fielding sparked speculation due to a mystery health scandal, following the news that he pulled out of filming for season two of The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin mid-way through production.
Apple TV confirmed to news outlets that they had scrapped the show altogether, meaning everything they filmed for season two would never see the light of day.
A rep for the comedian told The Independent: “This is a private and confidential matter regarding our client’s health. We are saddened by the decision to cease production but we cannot make any further comment on this matter.”
In January 2025, a spokesperson for Fielding also put rumours of Fielding’s Bake Off exit to bed, saying: "There has been absolutely no discussion about Noel stepping down from Bake Off."
However, the future of other hosts on the show may be less certain. Prue Leith recently expressed her desire to leave Bake Off at some point, saying: “I'm very keen to leave Bake Off before I'm asked to leave.” However, she added: "But, on the other hand, I really enjoy it.”
