Noel Edmonds was left “disappointed” after he became the first campmate to be booted out of I’m A Celebrity.

Edmonds faced the public vote after his team failed to win immunity during a camp challenge which saw the celebs pitted against each other as they attempted to down gruesome drinks in the fastest time and cycle for stars.

The TV presenter, who came in as a surprise late arrival, looked shocked after losing out to Emily Atack, Harry Redknapp, James McVey, Rita Simons and Anne Hegerty.

“I’m disappointed and relieved in equal measure and excited that I’m going to be back with Liz,” he told Holly Willoughby and Declan Donnelly.

He said he had enjoyed his time Down Under and that he had made a good friend in former football manager Redknapp as they bonded over their love for their wives.

He said: “We are incurably in love with our partners. He is a really good sort. I think we’ll be seeing a lot of each other.”

Edmonds said he wants Fleur East to be crowned Queen of the Jungle, describing her as an “astonishing young lady”.

Edmonds joined the show as emperor a few days after the campmates had settled. On joining he vowed to retire from TV if he was crowned King of the Jungle.

All of the campmates will face the public vote on Sunday night.

I’m A Celebrity is on ITV, tomorrow at 9pm
