(Picture: @Malala/Twitter )Malala Yousafzai, the University of Oxford graduate, girls education activist, and youngest-ever Nobel Peace Prize winner, has tied the knot with her partner Asser Malik in a ceremony held at her Birmingham home.
Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, the 24-year-old shared the “precious day” with her two million followers, complete with two wholesome photos from the day.
“Asser and I tied the knot to be partners for life,” she wrote. “We celebrated a small nikkah ceremony at home in Birmingham with our families. Please send us your prayers. We are excited to walk together for the journey ahead.”
While it is unclear when the pair started their relationship, her husband shared a birthday message back in July, “Happy Birthday to the most amazing @Malala.”

Malala had previously opened up about marriage when she graced the cover of British Vogue back in July 2021. She told the publication: “I still don’t understand why people have to get married. If you want to have a person in your life, why do you have to sign marriage papers, why can’t it just be a partnership?
“Even until my second year of university,” she said, “I just thought, ‘I’m never going to get married, never going to have kids – just going to do my work. I’m going to be happy and live with my family forever. I didn’t realise that you’re not the same person all the time,” she continued. “You change as well and you’re growing.”
The announcement got an influx of celebratory messages with the official Nobel Prize Instagram account sending their well wishes.
Award-winning actress, Reese Witherspoon, took to the post and congratulated Malala on “this wonderful moment”, shortly followed by British Vogue editor Edward Enninful commenting, “Congratulations sweet Malala.”
Greta Thunberg, Lilly Singh and TikTok star Dananeer also flocked to the post to send their love to the newlyweds.
