Nobby Solano says he is supporting Eddie Howe to win the Carabao Cup for Newcastle United fans, admitting that they "deserve" to celebrate some silverware.
Newcastle take on Southampton in the second leg of their League Cup semi-final next week knowing that a draw or better in front of their home fans will see them book their place in the final at Wembley. St James' Park will no doubt be rocking on Tuesday evening as the Toon Army look to roar on their side victory.
Joelinton's 73rd minute strike sees Howe's team go into the game with a 1-0 lead, with many hoping that their defence can once again keep a clean sheet to get them over the line. Ahead of the game, Solano has admitted that even though he believes his former side will miss out on a Champions League spot, it pales in comparison to winning the Carabao Cup this season.

"Newcastle fans are very special, they are very honest," Solano told William Hill and Footy Accumulators podcast No Tippy Tappy Football. "If you give everything on the pitch, they are more than pleased. It will be very important if you get any trophy, the fans are desperate for any trophy.
“I think Newcastle will finish in the Europa League places. It’s more important for them to win a trophy – the fans are desperate for any piece of silverware. They’ve now got a wonderful opportunity to win the League Cup, so Eddie [Howe] will have everyone – including myself – supporting them. I think the fans deserve it, they’re lovely people.
"We had great times with [Alan] Shearer, Craig [Bellamy], but like I say – I hope so [that they win the Carabao Cup], they deserve it. They [the fans] are nice people, very friendly people – you walk down the street during the week it looks deserted – nobody is there – but in the weekend when the match starts it’s amazing. I hope Eddie can give them that [a trophy]."
