Manchester City supporters are posing the same question about in-form Riyad Mahrez after Pep Guardiola named his line-up for the Tottenham game.
After sweeping aside Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League on Tuesday night, a return to Premier League duty awaits for Guardiola and his star-studded team today (Saturday).
During his pre-match press conference, the Spaniard confirmed that City would be without £100million man Jack Grealish (shin), Gabriel Jesus (muscular) and Cole Palmer (foot) - with Jesus and Palmer missing since January and a return from the international break.
Offered a free week's training following the Tottenham game this afternoon (5.30pm), manager Guardiola has retained nine of the players who helped them boss the game in Portugal.
England defender Kyle Walker and Ilkay Gundogan do come into the line-up, though, with John Stones and Algeria forward Mahrez included on the substitutes bench. Gundogan captains the side.
Mahrez has scored 17 goals and laid on seven assists in all competitions for City this season.
Here are a selection of comments from City supporters on social media platform Twitter, with some unhappiness about Guardiola's decision on the Algerian...
@AarxnMCFC said: "Mahrez should have started. Would have twisted their defence."
@7mcfcmax posted: "Why is Mahrez on the bench?"
@AnnounceAlvarez added: "No way Mahrez isn't starting when he's in the form of his life."
