There’s trouble in paradise for the Cincinnati Bengals. Star wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase continues his holdout with just days to go until the team’s first game. With all the money rolling in for top wide receivers this offseason, you can bet Chase wants to reset the market again and be the league’s highest-paid wideout.
But before any Pittsburgh Steelers fans want to ponder it, no the Steelers aren’t trading for Chase. At least not right now. The Steelers lost out on San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk just days ago but this front office isn’t going to panic. The asking price for Chase would be astronomical compared to Aiyuk.
For now. If this holdout lingers several weeks into the regular season, all bets are off from a Steelers point of view. If Chase is still sitting a month into the year, Cincinnati might be willing to part with him for less than a truckload of top picks and might be willing to send him to a division rival just to move on.
Maybe.
But for now, Pittsburgh seems completely content to go into their Week One game against the Atlanta Falcons with what they have at wide receiver.
