There was no rain on the parade at Lochmaben Children’s Gala Day on Saturday as hundreds turned out for an afternoon of family fun.
Youngsters and adults took part in the fancy dress competition and joined the walkers, small vehicles and floats for the parade, accompanied by pipe bands.
An afternoon of sports and entertainment on the school playing fields went ahead, ending with the evening Beat the Retreat ceremony.
It was the culmination of a week of events led by Miss Lochmaben Alyssa Duff and her attendants Evie Gardiner and Megan Patterson; Gala Prince Archie Scott and the Gala Princess Arria Armstrong.
Judges Sheena and Jack Burns from Airdrie and Tarnya Hillary from Prudhoe had a hard job choosing the winners, but the £100 prize for best in parade sponsored by Laird Lodges went to the Watchhill Group of Watchhill Toy Soldiers.
Lochmaben Gala Committee chairwoman Kerry Ann Coupland said afterwards: “From the beginning of the week until Saturday, people came out in numbers to support each and every one of our events.
“On gala day itself, we were blown away with the amazing entries for fancy dress and the floats. The effort, ideas and hard work the groups had put it this year made it the best in a long time.
“Miss Lochmaben, her attendants, prince and princess carried out the duties in an exemplary manner.
“What a fantastic week. Thank you everyone who made it possible.”
