Prince William has “no plans” to meet with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle next week, even though they will only be half a mile apart.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expected to use their Windsor home, Frogmore Cottage, while embarking on a European tour.
They could arrive in the country as early as Sunday and are due to visit Manchester on Monday before travelling to Dusseldorf in Germany and then returning to the UK from Thursday for a charity event.
William and Kate's new home, Adelaide Cottage, is also located in Windsor's Home Park and only a 10-minute walk from Frogmore.
However, the Daily Mail reports that the fractured relationship between the brothers means there are “no plans” for them to meet, according to sources.
It is claimed that William fears Harry and Meghan could bring a film crew as they continue to gather material for their upcoming Netflix documentary.
Relationships are also thought to have been strained by Meghan's interview with The Cut last week, in which she said that she had not signed a confidentiality agreements with the Royal Family.
She then hinted that there was more which she could have revealed during the couple's bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey last year.
Harry is working on an upcoming memoir and there is said to be concern among royals that he could take further digs at his family.
“Trust, particularly at the moment, is a big issue,” a source said in quotes reported by the Daily Mail.
Another added: “I really can't see any progress [in repairing their relationship] until the documentary and book have come out and they see what he has to say.
“The family have everything to lose and nothing to gain. William is deeply hurt and believes his brother has crossed a line.”
Harry and Meghan, who relocated to California two years ago, have a busy programme during their short visit.
They will attend Manchester's One Young World Summit on Monday, with 41-year-old Meghan having been a counsellor with the organisation since 2014.
The next day the Duke and Duchess of Sussex fly to Germany for Dusseldorf 2023 Invictus Games launch, before returning to London for the WellChild Awards on Thursday.
William and Kate are expected to be in Windsor all week, where George, Charlotte and Louis will be attending their new school.
The two couples have rarely been seen together in recent years. Both attended the Queen's Platinum Jubilee in June but it is unclear whether they spoke to each other at any stage.
Harry and William briefly exchanged words at Prince Philip's funeral in April and at the unveiling of a statue of their mother, Diana, last July.
