No other TE has done what Trey McBride has in 2024

Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride is having a career season for the second consecutive year. In 2023, he set the franchise single-season record for reception by a tight end with 81. He has blown past that number and sets a new record with every catch.

Through 16 games, he has 104 receptions and passed 1,000 receiving yards on Saturday. He is only the second tight end in franchise history to reach 1,000 yards. Hall of Famer Jackie Smith had 1,205 in 1967.

100-catch and 1,000-yard seasons are not foreign to tight ends in the NFL. McBride doesn’t even have the most receptions among tight ends this season. Rookie Brock Bowers has 108 for the Las Vegas Raiders entering the final week of the season.

However, McBride has accomplished something no other tight end has this season.

With his 12 receptions on Saturday against the Los Angeles Rams, it was his third 12-catch game of the season. He has more (three) than all other tight ends combined this season. Bowers has one 12-catch game as so does Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs.

With one game left in the season, he can add to that total and add to his record-breaking season.
