Nottinghamshire Live readers have voted on the best place to live in the county - and the people living there are not surprised. We asked readers to give their judgement on where in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire is the best place to live, and one leafy suburb came out as the clear winner.
But when we spoke to people going about their lives in the suburb on the edge of the city, they almost expected the accolade. A mere three miles away from the city centre, West Bridgford was voted the winner by reads - with many describing it as great for families and commuters, with brilliant transport links and schools nearby.
Its busy high street has something for everyone, ranging from bars and restaurants to book stores and supermarkets, while the historic Trent Bridge Cricket, football grounds, and National Water Sports Centre make it ideal for sporty residents.

Local residents were not surprised West Bridgford had been voted the best place to live. Chris Greaves, 72, who has lived in West Bridgford for 15 years, said: "It is a little enclave of middle class society and everyone is friendly and pleasant.
"People like the Edwardian homes with the big gardens now, so it is popular. It has just got a good vibe about it and you have the Trent Bridge, stadiums and National Water Sports Centre.
"There's quite a lot going on. The schools are good, the bus services are good, and there's no big crime really."
Jim Robertson, who is in his 60s and lives in West Bridgford, said: "I'm old and retired now and West Bridgford is relatively crime free - children are well behaved and study in the library. The transport is excellent and if you like sport there is nowhere better - I first came here before Nottingham Forest won the European cup, it was brilliant.
"I travelled around the country and world but I ended up deciding to stay here. It was called 'Bread and Lard Island' years ago by people, but I think it is more that people here are driven and want to do well, they have aspirations."
Ken Dobbinson, 79, a retiree who lives in Keyworth described West Bridgford as his favoured haunt for coffees, added: "There's lots of nice coffee shops and I sometimes like to work my way down the high street during the day.
"It's not a surprise at all that people would vote for West Bridgford, I think it is hard for people to have a bad life. Everything you would need you've got really.
"If I won the lottery I would still stay in this area. There's a nice mix of people here too, and everyone seems to get on, you don't get much trouble."
