No one should be surprised that Mason Rudolph won’t come back to the Steelers

The latest scuttlebutt around the Pittsburgh Steelers from multiple members of the Pittsburgh media centers on quarterback Mason Rudolph. According to multiple sources, Rudolph has no plans to re-sign with the Steelers this offseason.

This should be the least surprising piece of news you read all of the off-season. Pittsburgh signed Rudolph last offseason to a one-year contract and we assume under the assumption he would compete for a starting job. But the three-man race was only two from the beginning and Rudolph spent almost the entire season as a healthy scratch.

I’m sure Rudolph felt like the Steelers weren’t respectful of him as a player or a man with how last season went. The team could have traded him before the deadline, allowing him an opportunity for a fresh start. Instead, they held onto him, costing him a year to prove himself.

With Mitch Trubisky a potential cap casualty, will the Steelers regret not working harder with Rudolph to make him part of plan or are you ok with the Steelers returning only one quarterback from last season? Let us know in the comments.
