Rio Ferdinand has been caught out regarding his opinion on Virgil van Dijk.
The former Manchester United defender took part in a lie detector test for his FIVE Youtube channel. Among several questions testing the BT Sport pundit’s honest opinions was whether he looks at Reds defender Van Dijk and thinks the Dutchman is better than himself.
Ferdinand replied ‘no’, but the result from the test suggested he was lying.

The 43-year-old was adamant that he was telling the truth, adding that ‘no one plays’ like him anymore, but admitted that Van Dijk is currently the best in the world.
“The other day, my son was watching a YouTube video of me, 15 minutes,” Ferdinand said. “I watched about nine minutes and I was thinking ‘no one does that. No one plays like that no more.’ There isn’t any centre-back that I’ve seen in recent years that plays like that.
“Virgil’s top. When his career is finished you can do this. He’s the best now. He's making it look easy.”
Van Dijk has been touted as one of the best centre-backs in Premier League history but admittedly lacks the longevity of Ferdinand's 12-year spell at Old Trafford currently. Reds fans will be hoping the Dutch giant can go on to match that and be part of more title winning squads in the future.
