The family of three-year-old Morgan Ridler has paid tribute to their "beautiful boy" as they announced he died on Wednesday morning. Morgan from Swansea was diagnosed with a rare and complex form of cancer in October 2021 at the age of just two.
After a relapse, his parents Natalie and Matthew were told his treatment was not working and the focus would move to palliative care. The youngster was the inspiration behind Morgan's Army Charitable Foundation which has the slogan No One Fights Alone.
Last week, hundreds of people lined the streets to give Morgan an unforgettable day which included a drive-by from dozens of supercars including a Mercedes F1 car. Morgan also got a chance to ride for the first time in a plane with his parents. You can see all those pictures here.
As well as this, on Sunday hundreds of vehicles from Harleys and vintage Vespas to supercars, lorries, classic motors and fire engines took part in a parade past the home of three-year-old Morgan Ridler in Gorseinon. So many riders and drivers turned up to show their support it took around an hour-and-a-half for them all to roar, rev, honk and beep their way past the house.
However, on Monday June 26, Morgan's parents, Natalie and Matthew, shared an update that everyone was dreading by announcing that Morgan was to be moved to Ty Hafan hospice as he was in "increasing pain".
On Wednesday, June 28, his loved ones issued a heartbreaking update on the Morgan's Army Facebook page. According to the post, Morgan had passed away at approximately 5.30am that morning, surrounded by his family.
In the Facebook post, they wrote: "MORGAN GARETH JOHN RIDLER 07.07.2019 - 28.06.2023. Our beautiful boy started on his next great adventure at approximately 5.30am this morning. He was peaceful and comfortable with his family around him. Although it was faster than we could ever have anticipated, Morgan was in control at the very end, knowing he was safe and we were with him.
"No more pain now, you fought so hard for so long, you always smiled regardless, you always laughed, you always loved. Although I wish this never happened to us I know that we are better people for having known and loved you. You’ve taught us to be be more and love more.
"In us you have inspired more love than I ever thought possible, you’ve created power for good and we are so grateful for you.
"Our Morgs. Our Squishy".
The post, which was shared at around 8.10AM on Wednesday morning, was accompanied by a photo of a loved one tenderly holding Morgan's hand, as a Sunflower and a Spiderman teddy bear rested nearby. People far and wide have been sharing their tribute to young Morgan, with many thanking him for bringing them together and sharing their deepest condolences to the family.
