Alen Stajcic concedes the time has come for strugglers Perth to draw a line in the sand and turn their dismal A-League Men form around.
The Glory have won just once so far in Stajcic's first season at the helm - against 10-man Central Coast in round four - and have lacked the consistency of performance required to threaten opponents.
Sitting second from bottom ahead of an away clash with Newcastle on Saturday, Stajcic says his side has run out of excuses.
"We know we've got a lot of hard work to do and a lot of ground that we have to cover and re-cover," Stajcic declared.
"There's no magic wand, so we just have to keep working hard.
"The thing that gives me more confidence is the fact that we've shown glimpses of what we can do without being able to fulfil it over 90 minutes.
"We believe that if can start extending some of those periods, we'll definitely be competitive ... but it's not enough to be good for 20 minutes or 40 minutes or even 50 minutes.
"We have to keep extending that period and I'm sure the result will start coming our way."
Regular lapses have meant Perth have conceded at least twice in every match this season aside from their 2-0 victory over the Mariners.
They have coughed up nine goals on their current four-match losing streak.
"If you look at the raw stats, we've conceded a lot of shots in the last few weeks," Stajcic said.
"That's on the negative side but on the positive side we're at the top of the list in terms of where teams are shooting from.
"They're shooting from the furthest distance away from our goal.
"There's a lot of things for us to work on in terms of ensuring we limit the chances that other teams get, but for me conceding two goals a game is too many."
Glory goalkeeper Cameron Cook admitted the barren run had taken a toll on the squad.
"It's definitely had a bit of an impact on the group," Cook said.
"But the most important thing is we're looking to bounce back - to get a result, to get a win - and change that momentum."
For all Perth's struggles, the eighth-placed Jets hadn't fared much better until last week's 3-0 win away to Wellington Phoenix kick-started their campaign.
Glory have a decent ALM record in Newcastle, winning 12 of 27 visits to the Hunter, but have not had an away victory in almost 14 months.
