No Man's Sky Fishing Guide: How to Start, Where to Go

No Man's Sky just got a brand new update, The Aquarius, which was released on Sept. 4, 2024, and added something that players have been looking forward to, fishing.

The latest patch now allows players to land their spaceship near a quiet ravine or lake, prepare to relax, and throw their line into the water to see what types of fish are biting in the area. The addition of fishing to the game is the perfect way for weary Travelers to rest from grueling space exploration.

This article will help No Man's Sky players learn the basics of fishing, including where they can get a fishing rod as well as where they should start looking for fish to bait.

One good thing about this new feature is that it has no risk of pirates, Sentinels, or giant bug monsters whatsoever.

How To Start Fishing

The first thing No Man's Sky players should know is how they can start fishing and that is by getting their Fishing Rig from the Anomaly.

You should travel to the Anomaly and talk to Iteration Eos who is found in the research area and is behind Polo and Nada, according to TheGamer.

This is where players can buy the Fishing Rig blueprint from Eos which will cost you a single Nanite. After you get the blueprint, you will have to install the Fishing Rig on your Multi-Tool, which needs three Carbon Nanotubes, one Di-Hydrogen Jelly, and 60 Chromatic Metal.

Learn To Fish

After you have installed the Fishing Rig to your Multi-Tool, you can finally start catching some fish from any body of water in the game. The good thing is that fishes can live in many different types of planetary environments as long as there is water.

When you get to the water's edge, you can select your Fishing Rig from your Multi-Tool and cast your lead at the spot that is indicated on the water. The hardest part about fishing is the waiting game as fish will not immediately bite your line.

After you see the lure start bobbing in the water alongside a yellow flash, you should know that a fish has taken an interest in your lure. When it sinks below the water and your Fishing Rig and lure glow green, it means that you have hooked a fish and you should reel it in.

What Fish Can You Catch?

The new No Man's Sky update added more than 160 varieties of fish that are spread throughout the game's many planets. There are also certain types that will only appear at set times of the day and during specific weather conditions, said GameSpot.

Hello Games adding fishing to No Man's Sky was a great decision, seeing as there is a lot of water to be found across the game's many planets and galaxies. This is especially true after the July Worlds update.

The new update also introduces a logbook that will keep track of players' catches and is an 8x4 grid that contains six pages.

There are a lot of different kinds of fish that you can catch, including jellyfish, sea snails, octopuses, starfish, turtles, sea cucumbers, and more, according to PCGamer.
