The 49ers on Thursday held a normal practice after rolling through a walk-thru for Wednesday’s session. A Wednesday walk-thru meant San Francisco’s practice participation report was an estimate of what players would’ve done in a full session.
That allowed for some optimism that Thursday’s participation report could bring some good news, but the only change was that tight end Ross Dwelley went from a limited participant to a non-participant.
Here’s the Thursday report:
Did not participate
DT Arik Armstead (foot, knee)
G Aaron Banks (toe)
S Ji’Ayir Brown (knee)
TE Ross Dwelley (ankle)
WR Jauan Jennings (concussion)
RB Jordan Mason (illness)
RB Christian McCaffrey (not injury related – resting player)
OT Jaylon Moore (concussion)
It makes sense that McCaffrey would get a day off given his workload this season. Jennings continuing to be in concussion protocol is not a good sign for his availability Sunday. Head coach Kyle Shanahan on Thursday expressed a little optimism that Banks may be able to play Sunday, but a non-participation again doesn’t instill a ton of confidence.
Limited participation
LB Oren Burks (knee)
DT Javon Hargrave (hamstring)
WR Deebo Samuel (neck)
CB Ambry Thomas (knee, hand)
LT Trent Williams (groin)
Full practices would certainly be preferred, but the fact none of this group had any kind of setback is good news. Friday will paint a better picture of their availability for Sunday.
Full participation
WR Danny Gray (shoulder)
RB Elijah Mitchell (knee)
QB Brock Purdy (left shoulder)
This is the same group of full participants as Wednesday.
