No fear from David Moyes as West Ham face Europa League kings Sevilla: ‘I expect to win’

David Moyes has asserted that West Ham fear no team as they prepare to face the Europa League kings Sevilla.

The Hammers have been handed perhaps the toughest tie of the last-16 as they meet the six-time winners of the competition, managed by former Spain coach Julen Lopetegui.

Moyes's side, however, are no strangers to scalps and the Scot is confident that - despite their inconsistent form in recent months - they are capable of pulling off another shock.

West Ham ran Liverpool close in defeat at the weekend but have already beaten Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham in the Premier League this season and knocked both Manchester clubs out of domestic cups.

“I expect my players to win," said Moyes.

“If we play Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, I expect them to win. I'm really disappointed when we don't win.

“We're showing in the big games this season that we've stood up and been counted - it has been a challenge to the players and us. Probably we've found it harder in a different type of games, against the lesser teams, but we're playing a very good team tomorrow.

“I feel [European knockouts] are where this group of players should be.

“I think the group of players we have got are capable, there have been times in the season where I have thought it wouldn't matter who we are playing, that we would get a result and win."

The Hammers have already overcome big hurdles to reach this stage for the first time in their history.

Moyes added: "To finish in the European places in England, where you have the Champions League winners, the runners up and the Europa League finalists... I know the winner was Spanish last year but we have a really difficult league to qualify for Europe."
