A man charged with the alleged murder of a teenager at Charlestown will remain behind bars until his next court appearance.
Chadley Sheridan did not personally appear when the matter was mentioned for the first time in Belmont Local Court on Wednesday.
Mr Sheridan was on Tuesday night charged with murder over the death of a 16-year-old boy inside a Charlestown Road unit - with the alleged murder taking place some time between 11pm and 11.30pm on Monday, according to court documents.
Emergency crews were called to the scene where they found the teenager dead.
Mr Sheridan was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday in the carpark of a fast food restaurant on Weakleys Drive at Thornton. Police said on Tuesday the 16-year-old was known to Mr Sheridan.
During a brief mention in court on Wednesday, Magistrate Michel Morahan adjourned the matter to May 12.
