A man accused of abducting two young boys from their home in the Wheatbelt town of Moora early on Friday morning has appeared in court.
Jonathon Richard Anthony, 34, attended Perth Magistrates Court in person but did not make a bail application.
He is charged with two counts of forcibly or fraudulently enticing away or detaining a child under 16, two counts of aggravated burglary, and one count of deprivation of liberty.
He has also been charged with being disguised to commit an offence and criminal damage.
The magistrate read the charges to Mr Anthony, but he did not indicate he understood.
Police alleged Mr Anthony abducted a boy from his home around 4:00am on Friday before returning to the same house and attempting to drag his older brother out.
The older boy managed to break free and ran back to the house to alert an adult around 5:00am.
Following a frantic search of the area, the younger boy was found at a nearby home around 7:00am.
Both children underwent medical checks at hospital and have since returned home.
Police said on Friday that they did not believe the accused knew the two boys.
It is further alleged Mr Anthony caused damage to an ATM while wearing a face mask to conceal his appearance.
He was remanded in custody until his next appearance at Perth Magistrates Court on May 1.
