Nintendo Switch 2 games revealed and their release dates

Nintendo Switch 2 game screengrabs - (ES composite)

Nintendo has announced the Switch 2, and an absolute avalanche of games, including modern classics moved onto Switch. There are titles based on some of the top Nintendo franchises, including Zelda, Mario, Donkey Kong and Kirby.

The big launch game is Mario Kart World, which splices the open feel of a Forza Horizon game with classic Mario Kart action.

For the hardcore crowd, The Duskbloods was the biggest headline. This is a multiplayer game from the makers of the Dark Souls and Elden Ring games, From Software. It’s what’s known as a “player versus player versus enemy” (PvPvE) title, meaning you’ll fight against both other players and in-game baddies. This is no Bloodborne 2, but it certainly is interesting.

It’s a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, but won’t be out until 2026.

What wasn’t there is also important. There is no new 3D Mario game, although you can bet one is in the pipeline. And while there were some Zelda-based announcements, it’s still a bit early for the next mainline game, the successor to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Instead, we get trussed-up editions of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom on day one. They’ll run at higher resolutions, higher frame rates, and support a companion app for your phone. It acts like an assistant, helping you find stuff on a map. But this is basically Nintendo trying to show it hasn’t just played with a few in-game settings and asked us to pay for the game again.

Good news: if you already own those games on Switch you’ll be able to pay for an upgrade rather than full whack. And the Zelda upgrades are included as part of a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership (£34.99 a year). Some original Switch games will also get totally free performance and/or visual upgrades for Switch 2.

If you do decide to get hold of the £395.99 Nintendo Switch 2, you won’t be short of things to play. Here’s a list of the games we know are coming, from the console’s release date on June 5 all the way into 2026.
