Nine-year-old girl stabbed to death in Lincolnshire named as Lilia Valutyte

The nine-year-old girl who died in a suspected stabbing in Boston has been named by Lincolnshire Police as Lilia Valutyte.

The girl, a Lithuanian national, was found in Fountain Lane in the Lincolnshire town at around 6.20pm on Thursday.

Two people have been arrested in connection with her death.

East Area Commander, Chief Superintendent Kate Anderson, said: “Our thoughts continue to be with Lilia’s family and friends, and if any members of the public have information that might assist, please call 101 quoting incident 419 of 28th July, or they can report anonymously via Crimestoppers.”

The senior officer had described the nine-year-old’s death as an “utter tragedy”.

Lilia’s parents have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

Home Secretary Priti Patel has described the incident as “appalling”.

Those who wish to leave flowers and tributes can leave them at the corner of Fountain Lane and Fountain Place, it was said.
