Cheshire Police said it carried out a series of dawn raids in the aftermath of the "disturbing" incident, leading to nine boys being arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
All but one of the suspects can now be named, as they have reached adult age.
The teenagers were all charged with violent disorder and appeared at Liverpool Crown Court this morning for a plea and trial preparation hearing.
A 17-year-old boy, from St Helens, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared via video link from HMP Wetherby and pleaded guilty.
Terry Armstrong, 18, of York Road, Huyton, also appeared via video link, from HMP Altcourse, and pleaded guilty.
Six other 18-year-olds appeared in the dock, who all denied the offence.
Callum Francis, of Butleigh Road, Huyton; Rhys Bushell, of Midway Road, Huyton; Sean Self, of Berryedge Crescent, Huyton; Jamie Mann, of Mardale Road, Huyton; Jake Dawson, of Butleigh Road, Huyton; and Keiran Walker, of Carr Lane, Norris Green; all pleaded not guilty to the charge.
They were joined in the dock by Benjamin Tinsley, 19, of St Anthony's Close, Huyton, whose defence lawyer asked for him not to be arraigned at this stage.
Jo Maxwell, prosecuting, said a trial for the six teenagers who had pleaded not guilty would be estimated to last 10 days.
Judge David Potter fixed the trial for November 7 this year and remanded the seven teenagers in the dock on unconditional bail.
He said the 17-year-old boy and Armstrong would be sentenced at the conclusion of the trial and remanded them in custody.
